Reyes provided electrical engineering, fire alarm, security, and interior and exterior lighting design services for this four-story, 52-unit affordable housing project, which includes units set aside for veterans, low-income families, and community members facing homelessness.

The apartment building was completed as part of Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare’s new Garlington Center mixed-use development, which will combine affordable housing with a community wellness center. Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare is an organization which provides services to community members in critical need.

Another specific goal of this project is to provide housing to previous residents of Northeast Portland who were disenfranchised from the area due to rising rental prices. As committed advocates of social equity, Reyes partnered with a fellow MBE firm in a design-build capacity to keep careful tabs on project cost and deliver a successful example of community revitalization.
