Job Description:

Reyes Engineering is an award-winning Architectural Engineering firm with offices in Portland, Seattle, Honolulu, and Los Angeles. Our design services include electrical systems, architectural lighting and daylighting, fire safety and security, telecommunications and audiovisual, LEED strategy and documentation, and alternative energy source analysis for renewable energy solutions.

Electrical Designers will report to the President of the company or his designee. Electrical Designers are responsible for all project work assigned by the Project Managers or the Project Design Lead, client communications, and execution of deliverables assigned to them. Designers must have the ability to work on several concurrent projects and will assure the project work and deliverables are completed in a timely manner to required deadline schedules.

Summary of Job Responsibilities:

· Electrical, Lighting, Telecommunications, Security, Fire Alarm, and Detection System Design

· Receive project assignments and fulfill the role of project designer.

· Support the Project Manager or Design Lead in maintaining and developing a relationship with clients.

· Analyze energy codes and verify design calculations meet code requirements. Additionally, support calculations for incentive/rebate programs with associated forms completed. Review engineering calculations performed by other engineers and/or designers to support peer reviews (QA/QC) processes.

· Perform site observations and prepare observation reports. Coordinate work with clients and assist technical staff with direction of work needed.

· Provide whenever possible environmentally responsible design through energy conservation, energy efficiency and design of renewable energy systems.

Qualifications:

· Completed a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited University or several years of experience as an Electrical Designer in the AE Field.

· Must have Revit and AutoCAD experience

· Registered FE/EIT desired

· Two (2) years of experience in the design of electrical systems in the AE field preferred, but not required.

· Experienced in design and engineering of electrical systems, lighting systems, fire alarm systems, structured cabling and infrastructure design for telecommunications/low voltage signal/security systems, or design of renewable energy systems is preferred.

· Experience with energy tax credits, incentive/rebate programs, current LEED process/documentation with LEED AP credentials is a plus. LEED enhanced commissioning experience is also a plus.

Primary Job Responsibilities Include:

· Receive project assignments and fulfill the role of project designer.

· Support the Project Manager in maintaining and developing a relationship with clients.

· Attend team and project meetings.

· Assist the Project Manager in calculating costs and develops time schedules for work.

· Understand and interpret building codes.

· Check work for technical accuracy and company standards.

· Coordinate work with clients and assist technical staff with direction of work needed.

· Communicate to the Project Manager/Principal in Charge (PIC) of any deviations from contracted scope in a timely manner so PIC can issue an extra services proposal prior to commencement of extra work performed by design staff.

· Recognize potential liability problems quickly and seek management advice.

· Perform site observations, prepare observation reports, and interpret documents.

· Create/modify project specifications.

· Answer contractor’s questions during construction administration and resolve construction issues.

· Observe and analyze existing systems and provide for appropriate design parameters.

· Analyze energy code check calculations and calculations for incentive/rebate programs with associated forms completed.

· Perform/review engineering calculations performed by engineers and/or designers.

· Review equipment submittals for conformance to design documents.

· Review and responds to RFI’s.

· Review O & M manuals.

· Provide markups and/or design direction to designers and drafters.

· Provide whenever possible environmentally responsible design through energy conservation, energy efficiency and design of renewable energy systems.

· Other responsibilities assigned by the president
